This will be a multipart post regarding simplification without sacrificing productivity. In 2009, I began a process of simplifying my life to the bare essentials; a place to live, a method to get around, and a way to communicate/conduct business. The reason is to get rid of the “junk” we all like to collect, which leads to hassles. So far, I’ve gotten down to a daily/back-pack that has everything i need for 48 hours, a second slingbag for a day’s need, a car for local storage, arrangements for couch-hopping/office sharing, and a cheap storage facility.

Yes, this is my car. Or, at least, what’s left of it. Surprising it still turns on, just doesn’t run because of a broken accelerator cable and damaged air manifold. I’ll know in a few weeks if the other guy’s insurance will cover repairs or if it will be back to long-term carless life.

I haven’t posted in a while, so it seems necessary. I’d make a long post, but being back in Cali for just 6 days, I’m still a little tired. So how about I just give a quick list of why I joined the Red Cross, deal? deal.

2010 will be a year of simplification for Martin. As the world advances with different types of communication tools, the world becomes more & more complex. With this complexity, though, comes a dangerous attachment to this world. You must know what everone on facebook/myspace/twitter is doing, and you must post hourly. If you need to get a message accross, your quick to SMS, email, or use something online, rather then calling or saying in person. This is not to say that technology is bad, but it is a tool of corruption if not used appropriately.

I will remember december as the month that I started with nothing, no hope, assets, no support; to be brought to a powerful position through Gods wonderful work. Please take this message as a testimony of how God can truly work in any scenario.

They speak of passion, desire,
A burning to belong, acceptance,
A chance to care, to love.

What does it take to kill a site? A corrupt file, and a malformed database is all it takes. From December 1st to the 3rd, this site was down due to a complex database write issue. In short, a plugin made an incomplete database table, which WordPress tried to fix, failing in every respect.

In January of 2009, I started writing a novel loosely based on a real person. 297 pages, 90,000 (estimate) words, and 11 months later, I have finished this novel. Right Now, I’m seeking a publisher for printing, however, I felt I would share (read: entice) you with an original excerpt of the the first page of my first draft of this book. Ignore grammer errors and shortness of some paragraphs, This is the raw first draft, written in the first 30 minutes of a long endeavor to write my first book.
